If I had a nickel, folks. Especially the “I’m gonna need to you to show me how you did it so we can do it in-house” part.

Here’s my response to agencies that want to DIY their websites:

“Without a webmaster, you’re on your own”

Now, don’t get all pissy. Just consider this: how can you tout the benefits of using the professional services of a travel agent, and then play webmaster in your spare time? I don’t book cruises or FIT’s – how ’bout you back away from the HTML, huh?

Wouldn’t that time be better spent on serving customers, building relationships, learning about destinations and vendors and finding new opportunities? It’s like any other professional service I pay for. The time I gain by trusting a pro is time I can spend building my business. Hiring a professional web designer is no different. There’s one to fit every budget. Find one you like and that you’ll stay with for years to come – you’ll be glad you did. And, those of us that have to fix ugly sites all day will be glad you did, too.
